Supersymmetry Constraints on Type IIB Supergravity

چکیده

Supersymmetry is used to derive conditions on higher derivative terms in the effective action of type IIB supergravity. Using these conditions, we are able to prove earlier conjectures that certain modular invariant interactions of order (α) relative to the Einstein–Hilbert term are proportional to eigenfunctions of the Laplace operator on the fundamental domain of SL(2,ZZ). We also discuss how these arguments generalize to terms of higher order in α, as well as to compactifications of supergravity.

Constraining higher derivative supergravity with scattering amplitudes

Supersymmetry constraints on higher derivative couplings in maximal supergravity theories have been investigated extensively in the past [1–7] and have led to remarkable exact results on the quantum effective action of string theory. The method of Refs. [3,8–10] in obtaining constraints on higher derivative terms in gauge and gravity theories with maximal supersymmetry was by explicitly analyzi...

Stabilizing the Runaway Quiver in Supergravity

We study stabilizations of the supersymmetry breaking runaway quiver in string embeddings. Calculations are performed in four dimensional effective supergravity. Constraints on closed string fields in a type IIA construction are given. The particular case of stabilization by stringy instanton effects in a type IIB model is considered.

The Ĝλ Term in IIB Supergravity

The supersymmetry constraints on the Ĝλ term in the effective action of type IIB superstring theory are studied in order to determine the dependence of its coefficient on the complex scalar field, τ . The resulting expression is consistent with the SL(2,Z) invariant conjectures in the literature.

Heterotic Strings with Torsion

In this paper we describe the heterotic dual of the type IIB theory compactified to four dimensions on a toroidal orientifold in the presence of fluxes. The type IIB background is most easily described in terms of an M-theory compactification on a four-fold. The heterotic dual is obtained by performing a series of U -dualities. We argue that these dualities preserve supersymmetry and that the s...

Breathing mode compactifications and supersymmetry of the brane-world

It has recently been shown that the Randall-Sundrum brane-world may be obtained from an appropriate doubled D3-brane configuration in type IIB theory. This corresponds, in five dimensions, to a sphere compactification of the original IIB theory with a non-trivial breathing mode supporting the brane. In this paper, we shall study the supersymmetry of this reduction to massive five-dimensional su...
